NavySpaceFan | Hey everyone! I am working on my second book, a ship's history of Endeavour, and I need your help. I have come up with chapter titles for 24 of her 25 missions, but I cannot for the life of me think of anything for STS-72. My titles are usually very punny (e.g. "Radar Love" for STS-59), or have some sort of pop cultural reference ("The Real Thing" for STS-77 since she had a Coke dispenser on board for that mission). If I use your title, I'll give you a specific shout-out in the intro. Also, the working title is: America's Greatest Endeavour: The Missions of Space Shuttle Endeavour, but I am open for suggestions in that regard as well. Same shout-out applies. Thanks! |
MarylandSpace | How 'bout "The Retriever"? By the way, Brian Duffy and Winston Scott are two of my favorite shuttle astronauts. Duffy is no duffer when it comes to "Space Golf" either. |
OV-105 | How about "Lending a Hand to Japan" or "Returning to Japanese". |
Hart Sastrowardoyo | Return to Sender - since Japan launched the main payload and NASA retrieved it. Sowing OAST - in recognition of the Office of Aeronautics and Space Technology flyer. (Personally, I'm one for "Minor SNAFU with SFU," but I'm not going to suggest that.) For a book title, "America's Greatest Endeavour - the Missions of OV-105" |
cspg | Springer-Praxis published books on Challenger and Columbia but not on the remaining three orbiters. I found that strange. So this book will be welcome. |
p51 | "Playing fetch"? |
NavySpaceFan | These are great! Please keep them coming! |
garymilgrom | "The Heavyweight" as a play on the microgravity spacecraft it retrieved. |
Fezman92 | "How much was postage on that?" Going off the fact that we sent it back to Japan. |
jjknap | Apogee Prime published "Voyages of Discovery: The Missions of the Space Shuttle Discovery." I look forward to a book on Endeavour; that way I will have a book dedicated to each shuttle. When do you hope to have it published? |
NavySpaceFan | That's my first book, and I hope you enjoyed it! I hope to have my next book out in the fall. |

What book covered Atlantis?

My third one! Seriously, I plan on tackling ATLANTIS after I publish book 2. |
cspg | America's Great Endeavour by Robert A. Adamcik America's Great Endeavour is the sequel to Robert Adamcik's highly praised "Voyages of Discovery".This time Adamcik turns his eye to the space shuttle Endeavour and brings to life the entire history of the orbiter's successes. |
NavySpaceFan | Now available for pre-order! |
cspg | The book has only black and white pictures, small and poorly printed. A bit of a disappointment. And I can't compare with the Discovery book because I don't know where it is (too many books and an obvious lack of organizational skills (aka paperwork allergy). Had to reorder it. |

We had to use a newspaper-style two column format to fit all 600+ pictures. That was down from the 1185 I initially submitted. |
